50hr Myofascial Release + Functional Asana

Teacher Training

September/October/November 2024

About the Training

Learn how to teach myofascial release, nervous system regulation techniques, and functional movement in public or private classes!

Rolling with therapy balls can reduce pain, release trigger points and fascial adhesions, as well as improve blood flow and mobility. Rolling when cued and applied correctly can greatly impact the nervous system and aid in relaxation, anxiety/stress reduction, and overall regulation.

In the training, you will learn how to structure and teach a Myofascial Release Class, which includes functional movement, nervous system regulation exercises, and rolling with therapy balls. You will also learn how to curate private one-on-one classes. Beyond this, you’ll learn functional movement sequences and functional adaptations of traditional asanas to teach in your public classes.

You will learn:

  • Anatomy of the nervous system

  • Advanced musculoskeletal anatomy

  • Physiology of fascia

  • Polyvagal theory & an introduction to pain science

  • The fascial lines (myofascial chains)

  • Clinical somatics exercises

  • Functional movement sequences / functional asana adaptations

  • Rolling applications with therapy balls

  • Myofascial trigger points and pain referral patterns

  • Risks of rolling and modifications

  • Pain relief techniques using therapy balls

  • Body based practices to regulate the nervous system, decrease anxiety, and improve vagal tone

  • How to incorporate myofascial release in public yoga classes, and how to structure private one-on-one sessions

  • A non-invasive way to target pain & tension for yourself, and your students

Meet Iysha

RMT, ERYT-500, C-IAYT, YACEP®

As a healthcare professional with a unique outlook on therapeutics, Iysha approaches movement classes from a comprehensive perspective, including exercises such as somatics, myofascial release, active mobility, core strengthening, and yoga. With nearly 10 years of experience in the field, Iysha takes an evidence-based and anatomical approach to her work. During Iysha’s public classes and workshops, you can expect a fun and therapeutic approach to movement, with self-myofascial release practices, nervous system regulation techniques, and functional movement.

In her private clinical practice, Iysha provides quality rehabilitative care to her patients through acupuncture/dry needling, soft tissue release and manual therapy, therapeutic ultrasound, and yoga therapy. Iysha is a member of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO), a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT), and a graduate of the McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program, supported by the university’s Department of Anesthesia.

In addition, Iysha provides accredited continuing education (YACEP®) to yoga teachers in the areas of anatomy, physiology, myofascial release, and clinical somatics.

Through her work as a healthcare provider, Iysha has witnessed first hand how rehabilitative movement exercises are a crucial part of treatment with patients to yield long-term and lasting results. The problem being that most patients forget to do their homecare, mainly because they lack access to quality content they could use in the comfort of their own homes.

Iysha made it her mission to provide accessible therapeutic movement to the general population, giving her the purpose and drive to create HealthyHips™ — a reputable movement brand that offers in-person events, online class bundles, and an online studio with over 130 high quality classes.
